Getting Ready

So this is my last couple days before I head off to New Zealand! For an enitre semester. It is going to be interesting and I am sure once I slow down for even a second after the first couple weeks I will miss home like crazy. I hope I meet lots of people I enjoy hanging out with and that I will make some lifelong friends at the University of Otago. Bought my backpacking pack and sleeping bag and am starting to figure out how to pack everything and realizing all the things I am to be without and getting a little nervous but always excited.

I will be flying to LAX from SFO then to Auckland, NZ. Once there I get picked up on a bus to Rotorua, NZ for my four-day NZ orientation through Australearn. I cant wait for what they have planned for us and then will be flying to Dunedin, NZ (with a stop-over in Christchurch). I will arrive in Dunedin on July 6. Then I will have orientation week, buying my cell phone, getting my bedding etc! All for now, will update when I am about to leave or when I am Dunedin!

  1. Sara is on her way! Flight to LA went well (she had dinner with her brother). The flight on Air New Zealand has left the airport - around 9:39 PM (Pacific time)... in about 12 hours Sara will arrive in Auckland. Sara, we wish you well!

  2. One more update (for those that may read these comments) and then we'll all be looking for info from Sara. Air New Zealand flight 0001 arrived in Auckland around 5:46 AM (NZ time - Friday, July 3), which was about 10:46 AM Pacific time, July 2. Can't wait to read about Sara's adventures.

  3. Hi Sara -

Hope you are doing well and enjoying your time in New Zealand. Sounds like you are having fun. I head about the earthquake and was immediately concerned. But, after reading about the earthquake, it appeared that there was no damage and no injuries. Thankfully! I guess that NZ was trying to make you feel at home!! :) Take care, Love Aunt Joanne
